AMBASSADOR HOLDS YOUTH ROUNDTABLE AT AMERICAN CORNER IN PEMBA

On August 14, Ambassador Alfonso E. Lenhardt held a round table session with 18 youth member of the English Club at American Corner in Pemba to underscore U.S support for education in Tanzania. He was welcomed by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training's Regional Officer Mr Haji Mwalimu, and by American Corner Director Mr Mohammed Said .

The Ambassador highlighted to participants the importance of expanding access to English Learning and education - especially for women and girls- to promote economic empowerment and contributions towards the development of their families, communities and Tanzania.
On the role of the American Corners, he said: "Our goal is to promote education, friendship and mutual understanding between the people of our two countries. Because of this we have increased our funding support to this center in order to enhance our services to Pemba's youth who are tomorrow's leaders. Our duty is to help you gain access to information since information is power and education is your key for success in life."
