AMERICAN CORNER PEMBA MARKS BLACK HISTORY MONTH




On Sunday February 8, 2015 American corner in Pemba went to Gando secondary school to mark Black History Month accompanied by E- Teacher Alumni. The program aimed at introducing American corner Pemba programs to the students and teachers promoting friendship between teachers and students around Pemba island.
American corner Pemba coordinator presented brief facts about the American corner services, resources and programs and brief facts about Black History Month before welcoming E- Teachers alumni who presented short bio of Rosa Parks[ presented by E- Teacher alumni Shamsa Mohd], Barack Obama [ presented by E- Teacher alumni Fauzia Rashid] and Micro- English Language alumni Mr. Ali O mar presented ‘I have a dream’ speech by Martin Luther King Jr.
Other themes highlighted the program were questions and answers sessions for every presentation led by American corner coordinator and the participants were all given pens and pencils. There was also a Black History Month’s word search session that attracted the participants.
American corner coordinator also inaugurated AC P GANDO ENGLISH LANGUAGE SPEAKING CLUB for the school and presented E. S. L. material for the school and met with English language teachers to discuss about the E- Teachers programs.
The program took place at the play ground and attracted many children around the place.
